Game , Set, Match! Eagles blow late 4th Qtr lead and lose 3rd game in a row to the Cowboys, 21-20.

I thought I heard singing.

The immortal words of Porky Pig, "THAT'S ALL FOLKS", come to mind after watching the Eagles self destruct against Dalllas.

It was about midnight when disaster struck. Sitting back relaxing, watching the Eagles handle the Cowboys for almost 3 hours. Re-doing the standings in my head. Let's see the Redskins and Giants lost and we are taking care of the Cowboys. We look to be in good shape with a 5-4 record. On the field , both the offensive and defensive lines were clicking. Heck, they even had a running game going. Life was looking good. No Terrell Owens, the team was playing inspired football. And most of all, Dallas only knows how to lose in the last minute NOT win. Until last night.

It was horrible to watch. When the game was on the line, the defense couldn't get to Bledsoe. Obviously, Jimmy Johnson's defense needs some work. As does Andy Reid's offense. It looks like the league has finally figured them both out or they are tipping their hand before the play. John Madden proved it yesterday when he heard a Cowboy on defense yell out, "watch out for the shovel pass" 3 seconds before the Eagles tried one near the goal line.

The interception McNabb threw are the end of the game was ugly but it wasn't the worse thing we witnessed last night. Worse than that was Andy's decision to send him back in to try to win the game when he was obviously hurt on the interception. There was plenty of time to still win it with a field goal. It didn't happen. As it turned out , when Reid finally decided to use McMahon on a last minute drive, he moved to team to try a 60 yd field goal. What would have happened if he was in there the series before with more time to move the team?

Some highlights...

Rookie DE Trent Cole got 2 sacks.

Trotter had a nice hit on Bledsoe to cause and interception to Lito.

Donovan had a rushing TD.

Westbrook had 86 yds rushing,

Gordon had 57 yds rushing.

If you listened closely , you would have heard the singing that I heard. Yeah, it was only in my own head but you heard it before. It's over , the FAT LADY was singing. The Eagles' hopes for the playoffs are done. The Eagles have now lost 3 in a row, are 4-5, lost to Dallas twice and the magic is missing. Not this year. Too many problems. The playoffs are out of the picture unless somethng miraculous happens. It's also time for Donovan to get the surgery done now, so he is ready to play come next July. He 'll need the time to heal physically and mentally. But don't count on it, we'll see more of the same heart breaking losses in the weeks ahead. The season is only over when the FAT LADY sings. Well she sang last night.

 

Good morning my people, don't know about you but these late games are killing me. If I don't get my beauty sleep…well, the results speak for themselves.
