Eagles pull a rabbit out of their hat and win 20-17 over SD.

Maybe it was some bad chili. Or bad bean dip. Whatever it is , my stomach was turning. I sat there watching the entire first half and the acid churned. I know they won in the end but I was aggravated for 3 and a half hours before Matt Ware ran a blocked field goal attempt for 65 yds and a TD. I just want to see some good football and it has been a month or more since I have.

Yeah, there was a lot good things in the game. Especially the defense. Shutting down LT to 7 yds in 17 carries. Awesome. But there was 10 penalties for 72 yds.

Yeah, Terrell Owens scored a TD, BUT his celebration of his 100th career TD was embarassingly lame. Come on TO , you can do better than that. Another WR whose name escapes me, recently did the Riverdance and this is what we get.

Yeah, Mcnabb set a team record with 35 completions in 54 attempts. BUT he also had 2 interceptions and was ineffective in the stretch bringing on a cascade of boos from the Philly faithfuls.

Yeah, the defense played strong against the run and had 2 interceptions. BUT, they let SD march down field and score with relative ease when the game was on the line.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. They won. But I'm tired of screaming at the TV. Tired of the stumbling . Tired of an offense that doesn't strike fear in it's opponents like last year. Tired of not running a little bit. Tired of being tired. We won. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh. Even though it was exciting to watch Matt Ware score the winning TD, if we don't get the fumble at the 2:00 mark, I think we would have lost.

So maybe it wasn't something I ate. I'm going back to drink the rest of my beer from my HALF EMPTY glass.

Next up , Denver at Mile High Stadium. Doesn't look good.

 

Hello boys and girls,

I must preface this week's TMA with the fact that yours truly was unable to view the entire game due to a certain redheaded young lady turning 6 years old.

The aforementioned redhead is my daughter, Samantha, and my wife, in her infinite wisdom, scheduled our daughter's kids' party from 3-5PM yesterday afternoon.

And wasn't I just the happiest SOB alive.

Seriously, it was one week. This is my daughter we're talking about. It's only a football game. Life's too short. And…

Okay, good.

Now, whilst (is that really a word?) I did not see the entire game I did get to see the majority of the First Quarter and most of the Second.

Apparently some of the things I witnessed in the First Half stayed true through the Second Half.

• Not many thrown in TO's direction. I didn't count one pass thrown to him in whole First Quarter.
• Greg Lewis didn't exactly endear himself with his stellar play. A very ill-timed penalty and fumble in the First Half.

Penalties. The Eagles committed 10 penalties total for the entire game with 8 coming in the First Half alone. As Bobby DeNiro says to Ray Liotta in GoodFellas... Full story here
